Stroke Rehabilitation

Glenn, a registered nurse, will show you how to carry on your personal care, and daily living tasks, such as getting in and out of a wheelchair, to eventually walking independently.

Suffering a stroke can be a lifechanging and unexpected experience. It is imperative for recovery that the stroke survivors and their loved ones can understand the changes that a stroke can cause for their daily life, who they
are, and day-to-day tasks. Survivors will have to change and adjust to a new way of life, and a stroke rehabilitation nurse such as Glenn is specialized in assisting with the journey. Glenn will be there every step of the way, as the patient learns a new way of going about their daily life.

“Glenn noticed that the room my brother was placed in was not appropriate for a patient who had left-sided deficits. He informed the nursing staff and they agreed and moved him to a correct room. He also introduced mirror therapy as well as other rehab exercises that were not being performed at the rehabilitation hospital.” – Annie F.

Stroke Rehabilitation Nursing is an all-around comprehensive, caring, and holistic approach for patients who have suffered a stroke. Glenn will guide the patient through their newfound physical limitations and help them understand and learn to manage their new way of life.

Glenn will mainly be focused on helping the
patient regain a meaningful life. He will do this by helping the patient achieve independence and adaptation to daily life. They will be shown how to carry on their personal care, and daily living tasks, such as getting in and out of a wheelchair, to eventually walking independently. He will also educate the patient, and help them learn to take care of their health, in hopes to avoid another stroke. Glenn will help the patient and family set and reach attainable goals that they can all work on together. It is important that everyone is in agreement and has communicated about these goals, so the patient is set up for success.

“My brother who lives in Southern California suffered a CVA (stroke) recently. The CVA caused left hemiplegia and left facial droop. Upon Glenn’s first visit with my brother at the Rehabilitation Hospital, approximately one week after his stroke, Glenn noticed that the room my brother was placed in was not appropriate for a patient who had left-sided deficits. He informed the nursing staff and they agreed and moved him to a correct room. He also introduced mirror therapy as well as other rehab exercises that were not being performed at the rehabilitation hospital. Since being home, Glenn assisted my brother to walk downstairs and has encouraged him to walk without his walker. He is improving daily…Glenn’s ability to communicate with the family on the needs for continued rehabilitation at home has been excellent. Thank you Glenn.” – Annie F.
